PWG blasts court building

Hyderabad, December 1
Continuing with their violent spree, PWG Naxalites have blown up a court building housing the offices of Assistant Session Judge and Judicial First Class Magistrate at Asifabad in Adilabad district of Andhra Pradesh.

According to the police, six ultras came to the court building late last night and blew it by placing detonators.

The incident follows the blowing up by Naxalites of a milk plant belonging to the family of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and a granite factory owned by Union Minister of State for Defence Krishnam Raju on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, Naxalites axed to death a constable of the Special Armed Force (SAF) at Basaguda in Dantewada district. About 12 Naxalites gheraoed constable Haridas Dheptale last evening during his patrolling in the weekly market. They axed him to death and fled with his SLR rifle, the police said.

Naxals also took out rallies at different places in the Baster region to mark the first anniversary of the formation of people’s guerrilla army. PWG cadres also took out rallies in different areas of Naxalite-infested Dantewada, Kanker and Bastar districts in the Baster region, the police said. They had also forced people to vacate the weekly market in Modakpal village in the same region at gunpoint a day earlier.

Meanwhile, Naxalites have given a Dandakaranya bandh call for tomorrow in the bordering areas of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh states.

Congress activist J. Venkat Reddy was shot at point-blank range last night by two members of PWG’s local guerilla squad while he was at his friend’s shop in Gajwel town of Naxal-infested Medak distirct. Mr Reddy, who was on the hit list of the PWG, died while being shifted to hospital, the police said. PTI
